Soft Top Water Baits

The two most common soft top water baits are the mouse and frog. Many different styles, colours and sizes are available. Cast the frog or mouse bait deep into heavy weed cover. These top water baits will remain buoyant and sit perfectly on top of the slop above any fish below. Both quick and slow retrieves have their time and place. Experiment with retrieval speeds with pauses incorporated throughout. Large and small mouth bass will be your primary species hitting these baits although northern pike and walleye have been pleasant surprises.
