Drop Shot
Drop Shot weights typically come in two styles, cylinder and ball style.
Each style is designed to perform better in certain situations. The main
difference in drop shot weights compared to all other weights is the use
of a quick release line pinch clip that allows anglers to quickly adjust
their hook height by moving the weight closer or further away from the
hook. Cylinder style drop shot weights perform best in rock or gravel
bottoms since the extended height and smaller diameter of the lead
resists snagging better than the ball style. The Ball style drop shot
weight was designed for use in sand and mud bottoms and has a much
smaller profile since the weight is not spread out like with the
cylinder weight. The most common drop shot weight sizes are 1/8, 1/4,
3/8, 1/2 and 5/8 oz.
